Christopher CederrothWe congratulate Christopher Cederroth, co-chair of the the TINNET genetics working group, to his appointment as Assistant Professor at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm.

Thanks to his professional advancement his laboratory can now focus on the prevention and cure of tinnitus and hearing loss. His laboratory tackles the problem with a dual approach i) using animal models of hearing loss and tinnitus to decipher the molecular pathways disrupted in the ear and/or in the brain and ii) using genetics in homogenous sub-types of tinnitus patients, having in aim the identification and validation of new targets for drug development. For the latter purpose, he recently created STOP "Swedish Tinnitus Outreach Project" where he identified from local cohorts more than 30'000 individuals with chronic tinnitus on which he wishes to perform in-depth phenotypic characterization (questionnaire and audiological subtyping). This will lead to a valuable pool of homogenous patients for their genetic analysis.
